Finding Shelter

A post-disaster shelter is a place where victims of disaster can go to stay during recovery from a disaster. The City and also Grady County may set up shelters in coordination with one or several post-disaster relief organizations such as the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, and the Baptist Relief Foundation. For more info on these shelters and how to locate them in times of disaster, please refer to:

Please note that the Public Tornado Shelter, cooling & warming centers that are opened during some power outages, or the City Animal Shelter are not post-disaster shelters.
