Outdoor Warning Siren Expansion
Emergency Management was allocated $50,000 in Capital Improvement Funds under the Fiscal Year 2013 City budget to purchase new storm sirens.
Three new sirens were installed at (1) Highway 37 & Whispering Lakes; (2) Highway 37 & Worley Creek Ln; and (3) Tyler Drive just east of Richland Road.
The addition of these new storm sirens brought the City's total to 6 sirens covering nearly 90% of the City's residential parcels. They were in use heavily during the 5/31/13 tornadoes.
As funds allow, we will install additional sirens to help fill coverage holes & build a redundant system so that as many locations as possible could be covered by a backup siren.
