Outdoor Warning Sirens
We sound the sirens for tornado warnings, reliable reports, or radar observations of tornadoes within 5 miles of the City. The sirens mean, "take shelter NOW & seek info from your sources." Please do NOT call 911 or the Police Department unless you have an immediate emergency---they will not have more info.
We may sound them more than once as new threats appear. We do NOT sound them for all storms, nor do we sound an "all-clear" signal. Remember, the sirens are an OUTDOOR warning system. They are NOT designed to be heard inside. This makes it important to have multiple ways of getting warning info.
Regular tests are Saturdays at noon when it's fair & warmer than 35F. Other tests may be done for maintenance or repair. When a siren is down we will post it to the TEM Facebook page.
